This 1997 BMW M3 coupe is powered by a replacement 3.2-liter S52 inline-six paired with a five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The stripped interior is populated with racing seats, a custom dashboard, an AiM instrument panel, a Garmin Catalyst, a CAE shifter, and an intercom for a passenger. Other recent modifications included adding a six-point roll cage, a replacement window net, a Lifeline fire system, a custom switch panel, an FIA rain light and battery isolator, two-way adjustable shocks, and camber plates. The car originally resided in California and was relocated to Georgia and Alabama before the seller’s acquisition.
The body is finished in Alpinweiss (3-300). The prior owner added an aftermarket adjustable front splitter and a rear wing along with hood pins and tow hooks.
17″ alloy wheels are mounted with Hoosier 225/40 and 245/40 tires showing 2019 date codes. StopTech slotted rotors and 332mm calipers are fitted at the front, while Brembo rotors are installed out back. Suspension modifications include an X brace, and the seller has installed MCS two-way adjustable shocks, Hyperco springs, Vorshlag camber plates and rear shock mounts, rear lower arms from SPL Parts, rear trailing-arm reinforcements, and strut-tower reinforcements.
The interior was stripped under prior ownership, when the rear seats, sunroof, carpets, sound deadening, and headliner were removed, and racing seats were installed on VAC mounts. The seller subsequently repainted the interior, installed a Racetech 119 seat for the driver while leaving the Sparco Evo L for the passenger, and added a six-point roll cage, a Lifeline fire-suppression system, a CAE shifter, a rain light, and an intercom system. The Sparco driver’s seat is available to go with the car if desired.
The seller installed a custom dashboard that contains an AiM gauge display and data logger, and a Garmin Catalyst performance analyzer is mounted atop the dash.
The original engine in this M3 was replaced by the previous owner with a 3.2L S52 inline-six sourced from an M Roadster; it features an M50 intake manifold with a EuroSport conversion kit. Drivetrain modifications documented by the prior owner include:
