This 1997 BMW 850Ci is one of 166 examples built in the final year of E31 production for the North American market and is finished in Alpine White over gray leather. It is powered by a 5.4-liter V12 paired with a five-speed automatic transmission and is equipped with pop-up headlights, a sunroof, 16″ alloy wheels, heated and power-adjustable front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, cruise control, and a CD stereo. The car spent time in Louisiana and Texas before being acquired by the current owner in 2019. Service under current ownership has consisted of replacing the intake manifold blocks, valve cover gaskets, crankcase vent valves, thermostat, and drive belts as well as fluid changes. This E31 is offered in California by the seller on behalf of her husband with a Carfax report and a clean Oregon title.
The exterior is finished in Alpine White (300) and features pop-up headlights, fog lights, a sunroof, a rear decklid spoiler, window tint, quad exhaust outlets, and a replacement front lower spoiler. Cracked paint is present on the front bumper, a scratch is noted on the driver-side door, and a dent can be seen near the fuel door. The Carfax report lists “severe damage” to the rear of the car in March 2008 as a result of an aLident with another vehicle. Polished 16″ alloy wheels are wrapped in Goodyear Eagle tires and a full-size spare is mounted in the rear trunk. Corrosion is visible on the wheels, and the power steering lines were reportedly replaced during current ownership.
The cabin features gray leather seating surfaces with a matching dashboard, door panels, and carpets as well as Birdseye Maple trim on the center stack and console. Interior amenities include power-adjustable and heated front seats with memory settings for the driver, dual-zone automatic climate control, cruise control, a CD stereo, and power windows, mirrors, and locks. The seller notes that the power-adjustable front seats have been serviced.
The leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a 190-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for coolant temperature and fuel level. The digital odometer indicates 128k miles, approximately 100 of which were added under current ownership.
The 5.4-liter V12 was factory rated at 322 horsepower and 361 lb-ft of torque. Service during current ownership is said to have included replacement of the intake manifold blocks, valve cover gaskets, crankcase vent valves, spark plugs, thermostat, and drive belts as well as fluid and filter changes.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed Steptronic automatic transmission.
