This 1984 Volkswagen Rabbit GTI is finished in white over blue and red cloth and is powered by a 2.0-liter ABA inline-four paired with a five-speed 020-9A manual transaxle. The car was refinished in white under previous ownership and features GTI fender flares, a front chin spoiler, and black trim around the tinted windows. The Carfax report notes “structural damage” after an incident in 2004 with no further information provided.
Factory 14″ snowflake wheels are wrapped in 185/60 Westlake Radial RP18 tires that show 2020 date codes. The suspension has been modified with H&R coilovers and polyurethane bushings. The car is equipped with four-wheel disc brakes, and the rears use parking brake cables from a Volkswagen SciroLo. The brake fluid was flushed in 2018.
The interior features blue cloth upholstery with lighter stripes and red center sections along with blue carpeting and trim. An Alpine cassette stereo has been added, and the seller states the headliner was replaced.
A four-spoke steering wheel frames a 120-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The six-digit odometer shows 186k miles.
A 2.0-liter ABA inline-four block and JH solid-lifter cylinder head were installed in place of the car’s original 1.8-liter engine during 2008. A MegaSquirt 2 ECU, an idle-control valve, and a wide-band oxygen sensor were added under previous ownership and the system was subsequently tuned by Spitfire EFI of Bellingham, Washington. The battery was replaced in 2020, and additional engine modifications are said to include a Techtonics 276 camshaft, a Techtonics exhaust header, and a Dynomax muffler.
