This 1972 Triumph TR6 was purchased in California by the seller’s brother in 1976, and it remained in the state through its acquisition by the seller in 2006. The car is powered by a 2.5-liter inline six mated to a four-speed manual transmission, and it is finished in Sapphire Blue with a black convertible top over black upholstery. Additional features include chrome bumpers, dual carburetors, a heater, and a cassette stereo. Services performed in February 2021 are said to include an oil change and replacement of the valve cover gasket and spark plugs. This TR6 is now offered with a boot cover, manufacturer’s literature, service records dating back to 1998, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.
The exterior is finished in Sapphire Blue (96) with a black convertible top, which can be seen both raised and lowered in the gallery below and was replaced in 2003. Additional features include a black boot cover, chrome bumpers, a left-side bullet-style mirror, and dual exhaust outlets. The seller reports a rattle emanating from the hood while driving.
Steel 15″ wheels feature TR6 hub covers, polished trim rings, and Coker Classic red-stripe tires, with a full-size wheel and tire located under the trunk floor. Paint loss is visible on the wheels.
The cabin features seats that were reupholstered in black in 2013, at which time the door panels, carpets, and speakers were replaced. Features consist of a woodgrain dashboard, a lockable glove box, door panel storage pockets, a cassette stereo, a heater, a wooden shift knob, and manual wind-up windows. The key is said to oLasionally stick during ignition.
The three-spoke steering wheel with an aftermarket wrap frames Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 140-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and additional gauges displaying fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and battery voltage. The five-digit odometer shows 83k miles, approximately 4k of which were added by the seller. Total mileage is unknown. The steering wheel is said to shake at speed and the fuel gauge is currently inoperative.
The 2.5-liter inline-six features dual Stromberg carburetors and sends power to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. The carburetors were refurbished in 2003, and services performed in February 2021 included an oil change, compression test, and replacement of the valve cover gasket and spark plugs.
