This 1972 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme convertible was sold new in May 1972 by John Kasun Oldsmobile of Fairfax, Virginia, and the seller reportedly acquired it out of Ohio from the original owner’s son in the mid-1980s. This 1972 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme convertible was sold new in May 1972 by John Kasun Oldsmobile of Fairfax, Virginia, and the seller reportedly acquired it out of Ohio from the original owner’s son in the mid-1980s. Finished in silver over a black interior, the car is powered by a 350ci V8 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes a black soft top, 14″ Rally wheels, power brakes, and power steering.
The car is finished in Silver Pewter (14) and features a replacement power-operated black convertible top, door guards, side moldings, and chrome bumpers and rocker-panel trim. Scratches are noted in the paint, along with a worn patch at the top of the driver’s door.
14″ Rally wheels with polished trim rings are mounted with 215/75 tires. Braking is handled by front discs and rear drums. A full-size spare is situated in the trunk, and the hubcaps that were on the car’s prior steel wheels are included in the sale.
The cabin is upholstered in black vinyl with matching carpets and faux wood trim on the dash, door panels, and center console. Equipment includes Strato bucket seats, lap belts, and two-speed windshield wipers. The air conditioning does not blow cold, and the radio and lighter are disconnected.
A two-spoke steering wheel fronts instrumentation including a 120-mph speedometer, a clock, and a fuel gauge. The five-digit odometer shows approximately 52,500 miles.
The 350ci L34 Rocket V8 was factory rated at 180 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque. The seller states that the hoses and belts have been replaced and that the engine was recently tuned. The seller reports experiencing an occasional stalling issue, following which the car needs to rest before being restarted.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a TH350 three-speed automatic transmission.
May 1972 sales paperwork from John Kasun Oldsmobile includes a receipt for the purchase price of $4,178.06. The warranty Protect-O-Plate and manufacturer’s literature also will accompany the vehicle.
