This 1965 Austin Mini Cooper S is a left-hand-drive example that was built on June 2, 1965, and was purchased by its first owner via Austin’s Personal Export Delivery program in London, England. It is said to have remained in the family of its original owner until it was acquired by the current owner in 2014. The car is finished in red with a black roof over red vinyl upholstery with patterned gold inserts, and power comes from a 1,275L inline-four paired with a four-speed manual transaxle. Features include a wood dash panel, a heater, a driver-side fender-mounted mirror, and Hella driving lamps. The Hydrolastic suspension was reportedly serviced under current ownership, and replacement brake components and wheel bearings were installed along with a powder coating of the subframes.
The cabin features front bucket seats and a rear bench trimmed in red vinyl with patterned gold inserts, matching door panels, and red carpets. Amenities include a wood dash panel with a locking glovebox, heater, and three-point seatbelts for the front oLupants. Tears in the seats are visible above, and removed pieces of carpet can be seen.
The two-spoke steering wheel wears a wrap and fronts a 120-mph speedometer with an inset fuel-level gauge. An inoperable 8k-rpm tachometer is mounted ahead of the steering wheel. The five-digit odometer shows under 46k miles, approximately 150 of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
Power is from a 1,275L inline-four, and a service of the cylinder head was reportedly performed under previous ownership. Shifting is through a four-speed manual transaxle. The engine is said to smoke on start-up, and the piston rings should be replaced aLording to the seller.
