This 1939 Ford Deluxe coupe was refurbished and modified during prior ownership, which included refinishing the bodywork in Torch Red, reupholstering the tan interior, and installation of a 255ci flathead V8 paired to a T5 five-speed manual transmission. Cosmetic details unique to the Deluxe included a low pointed grille with vertical bars as well as headlights spaced further apart and lower on the fenders when compared to the Standard model. The steel body on this example was refinished in Corvette-specification Torch Red during the refurbishment performed by a prior owner. Additional features include chrome bumpers, dual side mirrors, and tinted window.
Staggered-width 15″ American Racing Salt Flat wheels are fitted with Firestone tires featuring pie crust sidewalls and measuring 5.60-15″ in front and 8.20-15″ at the rear. The front axle has been dropped, and vented disc brakes are equipped up front.
The interior features a tan color scheme on the front bench, rear parcel shelf, and door panels as well as coordinated carpeting and a body-colored metal dashboard. Features include a cowl vent, a crank-out windshield, a three-spoke banjo steering wheel, and an aftermarket cassette radio.
The suite of Classic Instruments gauges includes a 120-mph speedometer flanked by a tachometer and readouts for fuel level, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and voltage. The six-digit mechanical odometer shows 3k miles, approximately 150 of which were added by the seller. Total mileage is unknown, and the horn is inoperative.
The 255ci flathead V8 was reportedly sourced from a 1953 Mercury and is equipped with Offenhauser aluminum cylinder heads, and the engine is topped with three Stromberg 97 downdraft carburetors with matching filter housings and an Offenhauser intake manifold. Further additions include an Isky 400 JR camshaft, a Mallory ignition module, an aluminum radiator equipped with an electric fan, exhaust headers from Fenton Headers, and a polished stainless-steel exhaust system.
Power is distributed through a T5 five-speed manual transmission and an 8″ Ford rear end.
